The winery was founded nearly a century ago by the grandfather of the current owner, located at the time in Elvillar. A new project was undertaken in 2005 in Laguardia, beneath the mountains of Cantabria. Its vineyards, situated in Laguardia and Elvillar, are up to 100 years old in some areas and the average age of the others is more than 40. The winery, which has the most up to date technology, uses responsible wine-growing practices that are committed to quality, and it maintains traditional Rioja Alavesa processes. The grapes are chosen for the wine at this winery from the vineyard itself. The RUIZ DE VIÑASPRE brand is its letter of introduction commercially, under whose name it has attended several international exhibitions with the EXBA-7 Export consortium to which it belongs.
